The Ecuador national football team, known as "La Tricolor," is a rising force in the Copa America. Recognized for their dynamic and attacking style of play, they have steadily improved in recent years. Ecuador features a mix of homegrown talent and players competing in international leagues. While they have yet to secure a Copa America title, their youthful enthusiasm and dedication make them a competitive team. Ecuador is one of only two CONMEBOL members who have never won a Copa America, the other one being Venezuela. Both sides have never even placed in the top three. With six goals in 1963, Carlos Alberto Raffo became that contest's top scorer and the only Ecuadorian to ever receive an individual award at a continental contest. In spite of Raffo's goals, however, Ecuador only positioned sixth out of seven nations that year.
